After losing the Manchester United captaincy in the summer as part of a disappointing campaign last term, Harry Maguire has struggled to regain his place in the starting line-up this season.
The 29-year-old centre-back has made just three appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions this term, with his last outing coming in the 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on November 6.
Maguire was not involved in United's squad for the 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday, with Erik ten Hag confirming that the defender was not fully fit.
"Harry Maguire only trained last Friday and he was not fully fit," Ten Hag told reporters. "We have to see how he develops in the coming days."
Maguire's absence from the United squad has led to speculation that he could be on his way out of the club in January.
West Ham are reportedly interested in signing the England international, and have already had a £20m bid rejected by United.
However, the Hammers are confident of landing Maguire, who is said to be keen on a move to the London Stadium.
If Maguire does leave United, it will mark the end of a disappointing spell at Old Trafford for the defender.
Maguire joined United from Leicester City in 2019 for a fee of £80m, but he has failed to live up to expectations at the club.
The defender has been criticized for his poor form and lack of leadership, and he has been linked with a move away from United for some time.
