Former Arizona Volleyball Coach Remembers Luke Walton's Volleyball Skills

Grand Rapids Rise Hires Walton as Associate Head Coach

Walton Resigns as Head Volleyball Coach at University of Houston

Former Arizona volleyball coach Dave Rubio recalled that Luke Walton and basketball teammate Richard Jefferson used to come play volleyball in the Wildcats gym.

University of Houston Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades announced on Wednesday that Bill Walton has resigned as the Cougars head volleyball coach. Rhoades stated that a search for Walton's successor would begin immediately.

Five days after the women's volleyball team was eliminated from the Conference USA Tournament, Walton announced his resignation.

Walton had been at UH since 1986, fashioning a 458-319 record with 11 NCAA Tournament appearances. He led the Cougars to four Conference USA regular-season championships and three C-USA Tournament titles.

On Thursday, the Grand Rapids Rise, one of the founding members of the new Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF), announced that Walton would join the team as associate head coach.

Walton's legacy at UH will be remembered for his dedication to the program and his ability to develop talented players. He leaves behind a strong foundation for the future success of the Cougars volleyball team.
