Satellite images, weather maps, and tracking data provide detailed information on the path and intensity of Category 3 Major Hurricane Idalia.
Idalia, the ninth named storm to form in the Atlantic in 2023, briefly strengthened into an extremely dangerous Category 4 over the Gulf of Mexico early Wednesday.
As of Thursday afternoon, Idalia is moving out to sea off the South Carolina coast with wind speeds reaching 70 mph. Forecast models predict the storm will continue to move northeastward away from the coast.
